The Mona Lisa was once stolen in 1911. The thief picked it off the wall and walked out the front door of the museum. There was global outcry and the French were astonished. 2 years later, the painting was recovered, found in the apartment of the thief. The painting itself was a leap in painting techniques. It appears that Leonardo Da Vinci did not use any outlines. Mona Lisa is also strange because she appears to have no eyebrows or eyelashes.
